GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN UPDATE

Members,

We’re writing to give you an update on the status of legislation in Congress to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government. This evening, the Senate passed a bipartisan Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the entire government through January 30, 2026.

Importantly, the legislation ensures that funds provided by the CR are available to pay federal employees who were furloughed or excepted during the lapse in appropriations.

The CR now moves to the House of Representatives and based on the latest information available, we anticipate that the House will vote on the CR this Wednesday (Nov 12th). At this time, even though House Democratic Leadership is urging Members to vote against the CR, it appears that there will be enough votes to pass it through the House. This may occur as early as Wednesday evening and once it passes the House, President Trump has indicated that he will sign it into law.

We will continue to monitor the legislation in the House over the coming days and update you as it progresses. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

In solidarity,
Your Local 1929 E-board
